After the bus accident with more than 20 injuries on Autobahn 44 near Werl, the police seized the double-decker on Friday morning. A police spokesman said this morning that the bus had been removed and the road in the direction of Kassel had been reopened.
Werl - The coach carrying a group of students from a vocational college from Hesse had an accident on the way back from a trip to England on Friday night. According to the police's initial findings, the accident was preceded by a medical emergency suffered by the 53-year-old bus driver.
The bus had therefore veered off the road to the right between the Unna and Werl junctions. There he crashed into the protective barrier protruding from the ground and fell onto his side on the embankment.
According to the police, a total of 21 passengers were injured, one of them seriously but not life-threatening. All injured people were initially taken to surrounding hospitals. 39 passengers remained uninjured.
A large number of firefighters and police were on site. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. An accident investigation team worked at the scene of the accident until early morning. The traces would now be evaluated. dpa
