The Baindls collected money on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary. Their guests became benefactors for children and young people in Wolfratshausen.

– “Actually, we have everything,” Winnifreda and Rupert Baindl agree. So why not choose a nice occasion to do good at the same time? And so, on the occasion of the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary, they asked their guests for a donation to the Children and Youth Support Association (KJFV) Wolfratshausen. 880 euros were raised, which both handed over to managing director Fritz Meixner. “Children are simply important to us,” is how the couple, who have three children and three grandchildren, explain their commitment. “And we hope that this campaign will be followed by many imitators.”

The couple celebrated their wedding in Waldram in 1974 at the Gasthof zur Post

It was clear to both of them from a young age that Winnifreda and Rupert Baindl were made for each other. “I liked him when I was 14 years old,” says the now 68-year-old, remembering their time together at the Wolfratshausen secondary school. “At the time, however, he had his eye on someone else.” But that was to change a year later. Rupert Baindl relaxed with friends at Lake Bibisee. The atmosphere was exuberant, they played ball together – “which of course ended up in a group of girls purely by chance”. One of these young ladies was Winnifreda. “And suddenly,” says Baindl, laughing lovingly at his wife, “the ball was no longer important.” In 1974, they both married. They celebrated it in Waldram at the Gasthof zur Post, the very restaurant where the Baindls celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. “Our granddaughter made a colorful donation box,” says Winnifreda Baindl. And it filled up quickly thanks to their guests

Meixner: “Youth welfare is in crisis”

“A great gift,” says Meixner happily. Because: The current situation in child and youth support is “frightening”. “Youth welfare is in crisis – and nobody cares.” The lockdown and the resulting lack of contacts have left negative marks on the young people in every respect. “Actually, investments should now be made in social education systems to compensate for this - but nothing is happening.” Meixner clearly speaks of the wrong course being set. There is a shortage of skilled workers everywhere, both in schools and in daycare centers.

The KJFV managing director refers to projects such as family sponsors, the circus project, the single parents' meeting or gardening with children in after-school care, which are financed through donations. “This is where we will put the money.”

A use that the Baindl couple absolutely supports. “Every child who is not supported later costs the state money,” emphasizes Rupert Baindl. Fritz Meixner finds another suitable comparison: “Prevention is like housework. You only see it when it’s no longer being made.”
