Highlights: Easter weather: a long rainy and stormy weekend, new Mediterranean episode (rs): 7-day forecast. Rainy periods will continue throughout the country according to Météo France, leaving very little room for clear skies. The South-East will once again be under surveillance due to the formation of a Mediterranean episode. Some scenarios foresee up to 300 mm of accumulation by Monday morning in the Cévennes sector. This corresponds to two to three times more than what fell the previous weekend.

The weather over the next few days looks set to be very unsettled, even more so in the south-east of the country. Some clearings will be possible, but rare.

The three-day weekend linked to the Christian Easter holidays, and even four days in Alsace and Moselle, promises to be disrupted. Rainy periods will continue throughout the country according to Météo France, leaving very little room for clear skies. The South-East will once again be under surveillance due to the formation of a Mediterranean episode.

Saturday: a slow and temporary improvement

This should be the least disrupted day of the weekend. In the morning, only the West, the Pyrenees and Corsica should be spared from clouds and rain. Elsewhere, showers will be numerous and sometimes stormy. In the afternoon (map below), clearings gain ground. The bad weather is mainly concentrated in the east of the country with gusts reaching 50 km/h to 60 km/h. Maximum temperatures are estimated at 10°C to 15°C in the north of France, barely seasonal. In the south of the country, they would range from 15°C to 19°C, again barely in season in general.

At the end of the day and in the evening the sky clears, except in Alsace. For night owls going out between Saturday and Sunday, the night should be clear, except in the South-East, where increasingly heavy showers are expected.

Sunday: rains become widespread, caution near the Mediterranean

The rains are expected to affect more and more regions as they move up from the south-east of the country. From midday or early afternoon, the whole of France should be affected by showers. The wind will pick up and reach 80 km/h along the Rhône, all the way to the sea. Temperatures will range from 11°C to 15°C in most regions, around twenty in Corsica. Except on this island, the values will be more or less seasonal in the North, lower by several degrees in the South.

Along the Mediterranean, the rains are increasing: a new Mediterranean episode should take place. This phenomenon, which consists of a significant accumulation of rain over a short period in this region of France, would be the sixth since the beginning of February. This would be an exceptional total for this time of year. Some scenarios foresee up to 300 mm of accumulation by Monday morning in the Cévennes sector. This corresponds to 300 liters per square meter, two to three times more than what fell the previous weekend. This would amount to an amount equivalent to two to three months of normal precipitation depending on the sector.

Monday: rain everywhere except in the southernmost regions

The end of the long weekend should remain very rainy. For the moment, the forecast is for a day where rain will dominate everywhere, except in the most southern regions, that is to say the Pyrenees, Roussillon and Languedoc. The southeast is expected to continue to experience showers. Maximum temperatures are expected to be around fifteen degrees across the country.

For the rest of the week, the first trend is twofold. On the one hand it is expected to rain heavily until Wednesday. As the weekend approaches, temperatures are expected to rise significantly and exceed 20°C despite overcast skies.
