To honor the late actor Fritz Wepper, ZDF has changed its program and is showing one of his highlights again.
Mainz - Fritz Wepper (†82) was one of the best-known and most popular actors in Germany. On March 25, 2024, to the sadness of his relatives and numerous fans, he closed his eyes forever. Now ZDF has even changed the program to once again honor the actor, who received numerous awards such as the Golden Camera and the German Television Prize.
To honor Fritz Wepper: ZDF is changing its program
Fritz Wepper, who was also friends with Liza Minnelli during his lifetime, became known in 1959 at the age of 18 through the anti-war film “Die Brücke”. His popularity increased through the role of Harry Klein, which he played from 1969 to 1974 in the ZDF crime series “The Commissioner” and with whom he then moved to “Derrick” alongside Horst Tappert (†85) and she further embodied in 281 episodes. From 2002 to 2021, Fritz Wepper was seen particularly frequently in the 264 episodes of the ARD series “For Heaven's Sake” in the role of Mayor Wolfgang Wöller.
The list of Fritz Wepper's filmography is long and the highlights probably include his appearances in the popular ZDF series “Das Traumschiff”. In 2004 he appeared in “Das Traumschiff: Samoa” as the famous cookbook author Guido Weber, who meets his competitor Lydia Collani, played by Evelyn Hamann († 65), and is accused of stealing her ideas. And ZDF is broadcasting exactly this episode again this Saturday, March 30th at 12:15 p.m. in memory of Fritz Wepper and has even changed the program specifically for this, as “schlager.de” reports.
Fritz Wepper on ZDF: A nostalgic look back
For many fans of the TV series, which first flickered across the screen in 1981, it will certainly be a wistful look back. In addition to Fritz Wepper, many other popular actors who have already passed away can also be seen in the episode. Siegfried Rauch (†85) plays Captain Jakob Paulsen, Horst Naumann (†98) plays the ship's doctor Dr. Horst Schröder and Heide Keller (†81) the head hostess Beatrice.

A last big appearance for Fritz Wepper, who died just five months after his brother Elmar Wepper (†79). According to “gala.de”, he will find his final rest next to him, who died of a heart attack. ARD also changed its Easter program because of Fritz Wepper's death.
