For once, the French bishops received this week a report which had reason to rejoice: more than 12,000 adults and adolescents will be baptized this year at Easter - which represents a jump of 28% compared to the year 2023 (itself already an honorable vintage) and a level never reached since the launch of the annual survey in 2002.

These new adult catechumens also present interesting characteristics: a good number (36%) are under the age of 25 (which in principle leaves them with a good career as practitioners ahead of them) and a quarter of them are declare that they come from families “without religion”, virgins, or almost, of Christian culture (which opens the field of possibilities to missionary minds).
