After a year without catering, there is food again at the Erdinger Farmhouse Museum.

– When the season in the Farmhouse Museum starts on Easter Sunday, a visit to the museum café is also possible again. The new tenants Gudrun and Reinhard Dietl are taking over the helm after the café was closed last season due to a lack of tenants.

The couple from Tiefenbach in the Landshut district is well prepared for their new task, as Reinhold Dietl (54) reports. The trained cook and butcher ran the sports center in Ast with his wife (51) for several years and said: “It was fun.” During the week he sells meat and sausage with a mobile sales vehicle at the weekly market in Marzling (Freising district). and heard about the search for a tenant there.

A lot has happened in the café since the contract was awarded: a new kitchen and new toilets were installed, the wooden floors were restored, painting work was carried out and much more. The Dietls brought some tables and chairs with them from their previous restaurant. Gudrun Dietl's mother sewed curtains and tablecloths.

“We are already fully booked for both Easter days,” says the trained bakery saleswoman happily. She serves home-baked cakes with coffee. “My husband is a sweet tooth,” reveals the enthusiastic baker, who, however, doesn’t want to offer cakes. All cakes are also available to take away.

The oven for tarte flambée will be delivered shortly. “Maybe we’ll have a barbecue evening or even a barbecue course once a month,” thinks Dietl, who is really looking forward to the opening with his wife. It is important to him to note that only cash payment is possible in the museum café.

The Dietls can also host smaller celebrations in their museum café. There is space for 60 people in the hall, 25 in the lounge and up to 60 people in the Bavarian beer garden. “On Sunday there is also beer on tap,” announces the enterprising tenant, who also has other ideas.

The museum café will be open again on Fridays from 4 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. Every Sunday there is breakfast brunch (15 euros per person without drinks). There are various snacks throughout. The district office website provides information about opening times. Outdated entries on Facebook or the homepage of the previous tenant incorrectly announce the permanent closure.
