A resident reported a crashed paraglider in Starnberg Bay to the Fürstenfeldbruck Integrated Control Center on Good Friday. She had previously observed the alleged crash from her apartment.
Starnberg - The water rescue service was alerted twice on Good Friday and was called first to Starnberg and then to Leonie. At around 2:30 p.m., the water rescue workers searched the Bay of Starnberg extensively for the paraglider reported by a local resident, but were unable to find any evidence of an accident. At around 4:30 p.m. a surfer in front of Leonie ran out of breath.

The search was therefore stopped around 3:40 p.m. The resident may have seen one of the kite surfers traveling in Starnberg Bay and suspected a crash during one of the maneuvers. “Nevertheless, the woman acted completely correctly, because the sooner the rescue chain is started, the greater the chances of being able to help in time in the event of an actual accident,” explains the Starnberg water rescue service in the press report.

The water rescue services from Feldafing, Starnberg, Tutzing and Wolfratshausen, the DLRG Pöcking-Starnberg and the Starnberg fire department under the operational management of the Starnberg district water rescue service were in action.
When there was a second alarm at around 4:30 p.m., the water rescue services no longer had to intervene. A surfer was reported drifting off Leoni. His air-filled sail had literally run out of air, which is why he could no longer get back under his own power. The helpers from the DLRG Pöcking-Starnberg, who were still at the station after the previous mission, were able to pick him up safely.
