On Tuesday March 26, the school council of Georges-Mercier elementary school in Coubron voted for the wearing of the blouse from the start of the 2024 school year. This winter, the mayor of the city Ludovic Toro (UDI) expressed his desire to participate in the experiment launched by the government, which wishes to test the wearing of the uniform, renamed “common uniform”, at school.
“It will be a simple blouse that the students will put on over their clothes when entering class and will leave them at school in the evening,” explains the first councilor. From now on, children will all be the same. This will strengthen team spirit, cohesion and help fight against ambient individualism. The elected official also wanted to experiment with wearing this blouse at Paul-Bert, the town's second school, but the school council rejected the measure on Tuesday evening. “The parents of students at the establishment had nevertheless spoken out in favor of this experiment,” recalls Ludovic Toro, who took part in the vote. Teachers requested a secret ballot and the measure was defeated. »
At the end of January, 65.38% of families supported wearing the blouse in a vote organized by parent-teacher associations. “On Tuesday, the elected parents spoke out in favor of the experiment,” points out a dad. They always said that they would follow the advice of the families. The latter will perhaps be disappointed with the result but we respect the outcome of the vote. »
“Nothing obliges teachers to follow the advice of parents,” recalls Caroline Marchand, departmental co-secretary of the SNUipp-FSU 93 union.
