Stork pair No. 3: The nest building of the feathered Neu-Dorfen residents on the railway path is causing a stir among bird lovers. pre © Weingartner
A third pair of storks settles in Dorfen. They build their nest on the chimney of a workshop where the oil heating is still in operation.
Dorfen
– New residents on the Bahnweg in Dorfen: On the busy footpath and cycle path between the city center and the train station, surprised “ahhs” and “ohhs” can be heard again and again. The reason is a pair of storks that have recently settled on a chimney next to the railway path near the entrance to the B15. “They make quite a racket, but the birds are really nice to watch,” say neighbors, happy about the feathered influx.
There is currently a lot of tumbling at lofty heights and a new nest being built. The problem: The magnificent birds build their roost on the chimney of an oil heater that is still in operation. The owner said in an interview with the local newspaper: “Let’s see what we can do there. But we still have to heat our apartment and workshop. Maybe the fire department can relocate the storks.”
In Dorfen, a pair of storks has lived on the Isen-Vilstal cycle path near Buchbacher Straße for many years and another pair has lived at the municipal building yard for two or three years.
