End of an era: After 31 years in office, Alfred Tkaczik gave up the chairmanship of the Polling music association.

Polling

- Generational change at the Polling music association: Honorary board member Alfred Tkaczik did not stand for election at the annual meeting after 31 years as the first board member of the music association. His successor: Fabian Berg, Sebastian Tkaczik is now the second board member. Alfred Tkaczik leaves behind an extremely intact club, writes his successor in a statement. Tkaczik joined the club in 1978, was an assessor from 1985 to 1991, then second board member for two years before being elected to the board in 1993. He also brought his four children Bernadette, Sebastian, Florian and Alexander to the music club.

Long-time conductor Bernd Schuster, who led the Pollinger brass band from 1997, also resigned from the baton last year after more than 26 years. The honorary conductor has shaped the club with great passion and commitment for over three decades, said Berg. Michael Müller has been leading the rehearsals since October. He will have his baptism of fire at the traditional spring concerts tomorrow, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday (7.30 p.m. in the Tiefenbachhalle). When Schuster became a conductor, Müller was born in Schwabsoien.

Honors for deserving members

He took piano lessons at the age of six and later expanded his repertoire to include saxophone, clarinet and horn. After graduating from high school, he began studying music. In addition to his studies, he earned the gold badge with the saxophone and completed a conducting course. He was conductor of the Schwabsoien brass band and later took over as district conductor in the Oberland district of the Musikbund. Since 2022 he has been a music teacher at the Oskar-von-Miller-Gymnasium in Munich and lives in Weilheim.

At the annual meeting in the Tiefenbachhalle, which was attended by around 70 members, deserving supporting members were also honored for their long-standing support and loyalty to the association. Hans Geiger and Bernd Zimmer and Heinz and Rita Gastager for 40 years of membership were honored with a certificate and a club pin by Alfred Tkaczik and Fabian Berg for 25 years of membership.

The past anniversary year was characterized by many events surrounding the district music festival on the occasion of the music association's 60th anniversary, which culminated in a unique festival weekend with over 10,000 visitors in July 2023, writes Berg. In his report, the outgoing board also praised the good cooperation within the board and the festival committee.
