Small lane in this quiet area of the 15th arrondissement of Paris, the discreet rue Letellier has its passers-by. However, this is where one of the winners of the 2024 vintage of the Michelin Guide hides. An unpretentious light wood storefront hides Chakaiseki Akiyoshi, the restaurant of Japanese chef Yuichiro Akiyoshi, just awarded a star. Only around ten place settings are set simultaneously in this subdued address, the only one in France dedicated to chakaiseki, a Kyoto cuisine inseparable from tea tasting.
This year, another Japanese restaurant, Sushi Yoshinaga (II) also received its first star. With Chakaiseki, he joins the very closed, but growing, circle of exceptional culinary settings in the capital. L'Abysse at Pavillon Ledoyen (8th, two stars), Sola (5th, one star), Sushi B (2nd, one star) and Aida (7th, one star) give them a place in the famous guide. The Michelin Guide also lists many more Japanese addresses, not starred but no less tempting for fans of Japanese cuisine, in its pages.
