On Good Friday, the DWD issued weather warnings, and the red alert was in effect in the Alps. The warning of hurricane-like gusts was actually supposed to expire at 2 a.m. Saturday night, but it has now been extended in some places. The red alert has been in effect since 2 a.m. and until midnight.

“Danger to life and limb from falling trees, high-voltage lines and scaffolding (...) avoid staying outdoors or seek shelter (...) close all windows and doors,” it says, among other things, about the dangers and behavior. In the districts of Weilheim-Schongau, Traunstein and Berchtesgadener Land there are still warnings about squalls (colored orange on the warning map). Things seem to remain quiet in the rest of Bavaria.

DWD warns of hurricane-like gusts: red alert on Good Friday in Bavaria

The DWD is currently warning of hurricane-like gusts and the red alert is in effect (see initial report). Then the sun follows - before it gets wet.

According to the DWD forecast, the Easter weekend in Bavaria will be sunny and warm until Sunday - but rainy on Easter Monday. For Saturday, the DWD expects “exceptionally” warm weather with highs between 20 and 25 degrees. The sunny weather is expected to be dampened by veiled clouds.

Easter Sunday starts with some rain in Franconia, otherwise a mix of sun and clouds is expected. The maximum values ​​are 21 degrees. However, after a sunny start to Monday, dense clouds are expected to move in from the west. At temperatures between 13 and 20 degrees it can rain at times.

Red alert in Bavaria: severe weather warning! Hurricane-like gusts in the south of the Free State

There is a red alert in the south. The DWD has issued an official severe weather warning of hurricane-like gusts. “Above 1500 m, hurricane-like gusts with speeds of up to 110 km/h occur from the south. In exposed locations, hurricane gusts of up to 130 km/h must be expected,” it says. The warning also points out possible dangers: “Danger to life and limb from falling trees, high-voltage lines and scaffolding; falling branches, roof tiles and other larger objects. Recommendations for action: Avoid staying outdoors or seek shelter (e.g. in buildings),” says the DWD.

Behavior in road traffic should be adjusted and obstructions on traffic routes should be planned for. If there is enough time, objects outside should be secured or dismantled. In addition, sufficient distance should be maintained from buildings, trees, scaffolding and high-voltage lines. “Close all windows and doors,” says the DWD advice.

Uncomfortable start to the Easter weekend: numerous weather warnings in Bavaria

Red alert has been in effect since Friday morning, March 29th, and is valid until 2 a.m. on Saturday. In some nearby districts there is a warning for storms or gusts of wind. There is also a warning of squalls in eastern Bavaria; the districts of Regen and Cham are among those affected. Further north there is a warning for gusts of wind, for example in Tirschenreuth and Bayreuth.
