Major General (Res.) Israel Ziv, former head of the Operations Division at the General Staff, was interviewed this morning (Sunday) by Udi Segal and Anat Davidov on 103fm and addressed the war in Gaza and the dismantling of Hamas' military capabilities in Rafah and its consequences. Ziv also expressed his opinion on the northern arena

. The sophisticated methods of operation in Shifa led to results and made it possible to significantly damage the reorganization of Hamas," General (Ret.) Ziv commented first. "Hamas lost its infrastructure in the north of the Gaza Strip and tried to reorganize with the Jihad, and in response the IDF picked up on this, Close the hospital and with a high probability wipe out the organization," he added.

"This is a very important achievement on the way to the dismantling of Hamas' military frameworks. However, the way the army is currently operating in the Gaza Strip is a type of Tash plus." According to him, "there has not actually been any progress for over three months. The presence of the forces there is much poorer."

Ziv was asked in an interview if there is an organized plan to dismantle the military capabilities of Hamas and answered "This is what was done in the first phase. We can say that with the exception of Rafah and one other area in the central camps, its military capabilities have been dismantled. Has the last Hamasnik been killed? The answer is no. Are there any attempts by them to reorganize?" Yes. But it's no longer a war, neither on the scale of the scope nor on the scale of the goals."

He later added about Rafih that "he became inter-national because we did not act early enough to do the demobilization there and now it has become a matter for the US, for the world, for Egypt, for everyone. An occupation that is not through the coordinated series between Egypt and the US, in fact creates a complete occupation of the Strip. Because there is the only international crossing that still does not impose responsibility on us as the occupiers of the Strip." Regarding the meaning of the occupation of the southern city, he answered: "We need to impose a military government and from that moment we need to take care of food, humanitarian and civil responsibilities in the Gaza Strip."

During the conversation he also referred to the situation in the north and made it clear: "The north is promiscuous and depends on the south, because even in terms of concentration of forces, we cannot act with a concentration of effort in both places. What's more, we are deployed in Judea and Samaria during the last week of Ramadan, the other thing is that in order to go to the north after the don't the American, we need some kind of approval or American backing because you don't go to an all-out war without American backing and that's stuck too. I'm afraid we've reached a place where maybe the decisions are too big for the current government and it's not able to make them."
