Lisa suffers from severe aplastic anemia. The young woman can only get healthy again with a stem cell donation. Giving up is not an option for them.

Rieden - “Giving up is not an option for Lisa,” writes the German Bone Marrow Donor File (DKMS). “In order to lead a normal life, Lisa needs a stem cell donation,” it continues.

The young woman was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia back in 2015. The disease could initially be kept at bay with medication, but it is now clear: “She can only get well again through a stem cell donation,” says the DKMS. The previous search for a genetic twin was unsuccessful, which is why a typing campaign is now taking place.

DKMS registration campaign for Lisa from Bavaria: “Unwaveringly optimistic”

Anyone who is healthy and between 17 and 55 years old can register as a potential stem cell donor on Sunday (April 7th) from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Haus am Kalkofen in Rieden am Forggensee.

Her family and friends describe Lisa as warm-hearted, helpful, cheerful, “and above all, unshakably optimistic.” This optimism was a great support to her, because she had actually imagined her life to be completely different. “At 30, she wanted to live in her own apartment, find a great job after successfully completing her studies, pursue her favorite hobbies and be actively involved in the village community,” reports the DKMS. But this is not possible because of the severe aplastic anemia. This is a disease of the blood-forming system.

With medication, her condition was initially stable, but has become progressively worse over the last two years. “Blood transfusions became increasingly necessary and hospital stays increased due to various inflammations. “As of this year, it has been clear that the only thing that can help Lisa is a stem cell donation,” reports the DKMS. Lisa herself also has her say in the press release: “Please register, because my only chance of getting well again is to find a suitable stem cell donor. It's a small step for you, but for me it can mean the whole world." Lisa's family and friends have therefore organized a registration campaign.
