Ilon Levy, the spokesman for the Israeli information system for the foreign media, and who is considered the "National Explainer" announced today (Sunday) that he is retiring from his position. In the video he uploaded to his X account, he explained that he was raising funds for an association he founded that would engage in Israeli advocacy independently. "You don't have to be a speaker to speak for Israel," he said.

Halevi, who until recently was relatively anonymous, became famous near the beginning of the war when an interview he gave to the British media went viral on social media. A few days ago, it was announced that Levy was suspended from his position and the process of removing him from his position began, according to a publication in News 12. According to the report, Halevy's suspension came as a result of his tweet in response to the tweet of the British Foreign Minister. In a tweet, the British minister wrote that his country is pleading with Israel to allow more aid trucks to enter Gaza. Levy responded to the tweet and wrote that there is no problem with the capacity of the trucks entering Gaza.

Following the tweet, the British contacted the Foreign Ministry to find out if Levy's response was the official position of the Israeli government. In the appeal, the British wrote: "As you probably know, the Foreign Minister discussed the humanitarian issue at length with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and Minister Dermer. The tweets surprised us, considering the constructive dialogue between the countries, when they come from a good company and an ally. We would be happy to understand if these tweets are offensive In practice, the position of Foreign Minister Cameron and if they reflect the official position of the Israeli government."

In January, News 12 announced that the Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, is behind an attempt to oust Levy, a prominent figure in the Israeli national information system since the outbreak of the war, because of his past support for the protest movement against the legal revolution.
