Minister David Amsalem submitted a petition to the High Court today (Sunday), demanding that Israeli Arabs be recruited into the IDF. Amsalem submitted the petition against Defense Minister Yoav Galant and prosecutor Gali Beharev Miara.
According to the petition, which came in response to the interim order issued by the High Court ordering the recruitment of yeshivots, after no agreements were reached in the government regarding an outline for a new conscription law, Amsalem asked to "stop an illegal practice And it is not appropriate for the respondents to neglect and ignore the wrongful trend of the existence of guarantors who are intended for security service."

Amsalem explained that he decided to petition the High Court in order to examine it. "The Arab public in Israel is entitled to the rights that every Israeli citizen receives, but does not bear an equal burden when it comes to the obligation to enlist in the army. I'm not building on this institution, which I call the Hall of Hypocrites, but I'm interested to see how they will manage to get away with making a decision this time, after the decision they made regarding recruiting ultra-Orthodox."
