King Charles III made his cancer public a few weeks ago. The diagnosis also has an impact on the royal's everyday life: he has to break with old traditions.
London – This Easter is for King Charles III. (75) and the British royal family are different than usual - because in the past few weeks they have had to cope with two bad news: Both the head of state and his daughter-in-law Princess Kate (42) are suffering from cancer. During their treatment, both of them must take it easy and, ideally, avoid all risks of infection. For this reason, royal traditions must now also believe in it.
King Charles attends the Easter service - but afterwards he breaks with royal tradition
On Easter Sunday, going to church is mandatory for members of the British Royal Family. Everyone gathers at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle to begin the holiday together. Contrary to many assumptions, King Charles also takes part in the service despite his cancer - but there are important changes this year to protect him. The monarch will sit apart with his wife Queen Camilla (76). And even after the church performance, attention is paid to his health.

As a rule, there is a shared meal at lunchtime. According to
the Telegraph
, however, this royal tradition is not being taken into account. The king's safety comes first in this case. That was already the case in the past few weeks, when Charles III. had only attended selected appointments. Even though there is heavy rain, many fans are happy to see the royal outside the palace walls for the first time in a long time.
In contrast to King Charles: Princess Kate is not expected at the Easter service
Unlike her father-in-law, Princess Kate is staying away - Prince William's wife (41) is not supposed to attend the service. Her husband and their three children will apparently also not appear at church in the traditional manner. Even shielded from the other guests, it doesn't seem to be an option for the sick princess to make a public appearance at the moment.

Easter in 2024 will therefore be different than usual for them. As was reported a few days ago, Princess Kate and Prince William have already made other plans for the holidays.
