The B472 will be completely closed for several weeks starting tomorrow, April 2nd, between the Marktoberdorf and Rettenbach am Auerberg, Frankau exits. The closure is expected to last until May 10th. The diversion (map below) takes place over a large area via Lechbruck to the B16, Roßhaupten, Marktoberdorf.
Marktoberdorf/Ostallgäu
- The report is almost certainly not an April Fool's joke, because it comes from the Kempten State Building Authority. Background: The work that has been going on for some time to expand the B472 between Marktoberdorf-Selbensberg and Ob is nearing completion. So far, according to the building authority's statement, the construction site has largely been carried out alongside the temporary roadway that has been set up. In the upcoming construction phase, the new B472 will be connected to the finished sections and the gap between the already built bridges near Ob will be closed. For this purpose, according to the building authority, it is essential to interrupt the temporary roadway, so that a full closure to traffic becomes necessary.
Full closure of B472 – large-scale diversion via Lechbruck, B16, Roßhaupten, Marktoberdorf
According to the authority's press release, the diversion will take place from Marktoberdorf via the B16 to Roßhaupten and the St2059 to Lechbruck. From there, depending on your destination, continue on the St2059/B17 to Steingaden, Schongau, or via the OAL 22/WM2 to Bernbeuren and Rettenbach am Auerberg. Correspondingly in the opposite direction (see plan below). The diversion is signposted locally.

Once the work has been completed, the B472 will be fully accessible again and the junction with the district road OAL 8 near Ob will be put into operation, reports the building authority and asks road users and affected residents for their understanding.
