VfL Bochum has given up a possible victory in the basement duel of the Bundesliga. Despite a 2-0 lead, coach Thomas Letsch's team only had to settle for a 2-2 (1-0) draw against bottom-placed SV Darmstadt 98 on Easter Sunday. The hosts were in the lead thanks to two goals from Philipp Hofmann (30th and 48th minute), Tim Skarke (62nd minute).
Bochum - ) and Oscar Velhelmson (76th) gave promoted Darmstadt a point with their goals.
After the draw, Bochum is still six points ahead of relegation place 16. Newly promoted Darmstadt remains bottom with 14 points. Coach Torsten Lieberknecht's team is six points short of FSV Mainz 05 in 16th place in the table. dpa
