Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to be released from hospital on Tuesday, his office announced on Monday. He had been operated on the day before for a hernia, detected on Saturday during a routine examination. The interim is ensured by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Yariv Levin.

On Saturday, thousands of Israelis once again demanded his resignation in the streets. They judge him responsible for the endless detention of their sons, husbands, parents. 130 people are still detained by Hamas, of whom 34 have died, according to the Israeli army.

The prime minister "feels very well and continues to carry out daily activities, including consultations and conversations, from the hospital," his office said in a statement, adding that he was scheduled for release on Tuesday afternoon. From the hospital, he welcomed on the social network X, the law promoted by Minister of Communications Shlomo Karai and adopted by Parliament. He announced that he would “act immediately” to ban the broadcast of Al Jazeera.
Benyamin Netanyahu was hospitalized last July to undergo the implantation of a pacemaker at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hahomer. He was released from the hospital the next day.
