Almost a week after the announcement of the resignation of the principal of the Maurice-Ravel school campus in Paris, threatened with death after asking a student to remove her veil, lawyer Richard Malka spoke on the subject to the RTL microphone this Monday morning. “attacks on the Republic”

“Today, Islamism is terrorizing the Republic. I would prefer that it was the Republic which terrorized Islamism

The lawyer for the family of Dominique Bernard killed in Arras expressed concern about the assassinations of teachers and the various threats to which they are victims.
“Murdered teachers are nothing, in the name of a religion, in the name of Allah. Principals are forced to resign, then teachers, other thousands of incidents, protests over minutes of silence, artistic, historical, scientific teaching...
,” he sadly listed.
“Systemic danger”
Religion should not invade the public sphere and the government should fight against it, recalled Richard Malka. He compared the current situation to that of Christianity at the beginning of the 20th century:
“It was complicated to get priests and bishops back into their churches.”
For the lawyer, the government uses
“a lot of communication”

“political impotence”

,” he pointed out. As a reminder, the Parisian principal resigned after asking three students to remove their veils on February 28. After an altercation with one of these young girls, the head of the establishment received death threats on the internet and left his post.
“We are still not in battle order against this systemic peril
,” regretted Richard Malka.
The lawyer also denounced the behavior of La France Insoumise, which he described as
“the black star of our political world”
. He notably pointed out that certain members of the far-left party
“relay the lies of this young woman”
, speaking of the one who refused to remove her veil.

“We have to make waves”
According to him, several solutions are available to the government. First of all,
“a radical paradigm shift”

“We must make waves, be intractable, inflexible with regard to any attack on republican values in public education, on the part of students and parents.” The lawyer also calls for
“extremely harsh sanctions”

Richard Malka then recommended no longer
“paying subsidies to associations and educational establishments which organize hijab day,
adding:

Finally, he called for
“no longer to appoint a university president, a rector of an academy whose primary mission is not to promote reason and universalism. We must teach the dangerousness of religion when it wants to invade the public sphere and is no longer practiced as a personal faith

The lawyer suggested

to establishments,

“That’s exactly what I was told in the Mila affair
,” he compared. As a reminder, the Mila affair dates back to 2020, when the then 16-year-old teenager was the subject of virulent insults on the internet after criticizing Islam on Instagram.
“Some say “There’s no point in prosecuting, now that’s how we talk on social networks…” We prosecuted, there were convictions, sometimes heavy, and the threats stopped and fear has changed sides. We cannot continue to accept that teachers are terrorized. They didn’t sign up to be marine commandos, they signed up to be teachers.”
