It was a bit of fun on April 1st that wasn't well received by some people on Facebook: Johanniter Allershausen had announced a “sensation”: a rescue helicopter for the Freising district.

Allershausen

– Successful fun for April 1st? Or rather a bad joke at the expense of everyone who hopes for better emergency care in the district? The Johanniter Allershausen Facebook page read on Easter Monday: “The negotiations have been conducted behind closed doors for two years. Now the rescue association has decided with the health insurance companies to station a rescue helicopter in the district from January 1st, 2025.” Together with four pictures from Johanniter Luftrettung, the post was a real eye-catcher and was eagerly liked – and also shared.

For example in a Freising Facebook group. But not everyone was enthusiastic about it. More than 60 users enjoyed the fun here too. But there were also some very critical comments. “You’re not kidding about that,” one read. Another thought it was impertinent to write something like that. And another user complained that these days you can no longer be sure what is the truth and what is not - keyword: fake news.

Press spokesman: “This has escalated”

Johann Bauer, who is responsible for press and public relations at Johannitern Allershausen, then removed the post from the Freisinger page. “It escalated, it wasn’t worth the joke for me,” he said when asked by the Freisinger Tagblatt. When asked whether he could understand that people who may have had to wait a long time for emergency medical care feel like they are being stepped on, Bauer said on Monday: “It is April 1st and there are a lot of them today Other emergency services also make jokes.” He has also been driving emergency services for almost 50 years “and I don’t see what could be bad about this joke on April 1st.” If someone suspects evil behind it, “unfortunately I can’t change that.” .

The post remains on the Johanniter Facebook page

Of course, the joke will be cleared up on the Johanniter Facebook page - the post remains there - on Tuesday. Nevertheless, a comment from Franz Groszek - he himself is active with the Johanniter Allershausen - suggests that this joke was intended to draw attention to the seriousness of the situation in emergency medical care by completely exaggerating it. Groszek takes the whole thing even further and writes: “I have been waiting for an emergency doctor location in Allershausen for over 40 years. I'm extremely happy that it's now becoming a helicopter location.” But Johann Bauer denies the deeper meaning behind the joke: the whole thing was just intended as a joke. “And most people understood it that way.”

But there were also some enthusiastic comments who took the post seriously and were happy about a rescue helicopter for the district and thanked those responsible for their efforts. Those can be comforted by the 24/7 rescue service in Nandlstadt: it really started last week.

The thing with the rescue helicopter wasn't the only April Fool's joke in the Freising district. The police are now even dealing with another one.
