The mayor of Montreuil, Patrice Bessac (PCF), one of the biggest communist cities in France, will launch a popular initiative movement to prepare for the possible arrival of the far right in power. Through prospective work, conferences, exchanges between local elected officials from across the country, the elected official, also president of the Est Ensemble territory, wants to show concretely the consequences that a victory of the National Rally would have in the next presidential election, and thus avoid it.
The initiative is supported by local elected officials as well as the president of the Seine-Saint-Denis departmental council. “We need to regain control of the public debate, corrupted by the ideas of the extreme right, we need voices to be raised,” defends Stéphane Troussel (PS). Our department must be at the forefront in the fight against the extreme right because our population is its target. »
