After the Easter holidays, construction work to connect a new transformer station will begin in the town center of Bad Tölz. This will have a significant impact on traffic.

Bad Tölz – The Säggasse in Bad Tölz is small, but it is very important for traffic towards the city center. Significant impacts are to be expected if this traffic axis is closed after the Easter holidays due to construction work by the municipal utilities. There will be no passage here for around nine weeks. The Kolberggarten car park will only be accessible from one direction. The one-way street regulation in Nockhergasse will be lifted.

Bad Tölz municipal utilities connect new transformer station

The reason for the construction work is that various transformer stations are being connected in the area. “The general demand for electricity is increasing, and needs and requirements are currently changing extremely quickly,” explains municipal utility spokeswoman Maria Geisberger, referring to e-mobility, heat pumps and more.

The decades-old transformer stations at Säggasse 4 and Fröhlichgasse 2 no longer correspond to the state of the art. “In order to ensure that we continue to have a secure supply in the future, we have built a new station at the Kolbergarten car park,” says Geisberger. “With the upcoming measure, the stations will be connected to each other.”

Säggasse: Also working on the canal and broadband expansion

The municipal utilities are also using the opportunity to renew the approximately 80-year-old water pipes and lay various empty pipes. To ensure that the road does not have to be torn up again and again, we have also coordinated with other stakeholders: the city of Bad Tölz is carrying out partial sewer construction work, and Telekom is carrying out broadband expansion in this area.

According to Geisberger, the municipal utilities - which are due to change at the top this year - chose a time for the measure "that is the least critical, both in terms of weather and for the people of Tölzer and tourists."

A full closure, explains the company spokeswoman, was “unfortunately unavoidable, as safe work in moving traffic would not have been possible in most places on Säggasse. The excavators need a sufficient swivel radius to work. A one-sided closure would not be sufficient in bottlenecks.”

Säggasse closed in Bad Tölz: diversion via Osterleite

What happens now when it comes to traffic? Through traffic will be completely rerouted via Osterleite. “In this exceptional case, bus services are also allowed to travel down Osterleite,” says Geisberger. Pedestrians can pass through the construction site area at any time. Cyclists have to get off and push.

Drivers can approach the Kolberggarten car park at any time - but only from one direction at a time. This regulation is divided into two sections. “Phase 1” begins on Wednesday, April 10th. For around four weeks, entry and exit to the parking lot will only be from above, i.e. from Nockhergasse. The one-way street regulation on the entire Nockhergasse up to the junction with Bairawieser Straße will then be lifted. At the bottleneck at the Irlbeck House, where no oncoming traffic can pass, a traffic light regulates traffic.

Access to the Kolberggarten car park only comes from one direction

In the second phase, which is estimated to last around five weeks, the work will move to the upper area of Säggasse. Now the following applies: The Kolbergarten car park can only be accessed from the direction of the Isarbrücke. From Nockhergasse, traffic can drive to Nockherplatz and turn around there.

The one-way street regulation in Nockhergasse remains abolished. To ensure that there are appropriate alternatives and turning options, all public parking spaces on Säg- and Nockhergasse will be eliminated during the entire construction period. According to Geisberger, this also applies to the disabled parking spaces at Taubenloch during “Phase 1”.

“If the municipal utilities are unable to adhere to the specified times due to unforeseen circumstances, road users will be kept up to date on the homepage, social media and daily press,” promises Geisberger.

Due to construction work by the municipal utility to expand the local heating network, there have been significant traffic disruptions in Bad Tölz for weeks.
