The commercial with the Trigema monkey is cult. Former managing director Wolfgang Grupp has always been seen at the chimpanzee's side - but will soon disappear from the spot, as Grupp Junior has now revealed.

Burladingen – “Hello fans”: When the Trigema monkey appears on television somewhere, you know that Wolfgang Grupp is not far away either. The former boss of the Swabian textile company and his mascot have been inseparable since 1990. For many ARD viewers, the two were a constant just before the Tagesschau for a long time. As the son and successor of the outgoing patriarch revealed, the popular commercial with the chimpanzee is now to be changed.

After the company is handed over to Bonita and Wolfgang Grupp Junior, their father - Trigema's biggest figurehead - will disappear from the cult TV spot. “I believe that it is important to keep up with the changes of the times – whether in your own working world or externally,” explains Grupp Junior to

. The fact that his father is being removed from Trigema advertising is “a change that unfortunately has to come.” What is certain, however, is: “The monkey will stay.”

The

SWR portrait "Wolfgang Grupp - Germany's most famous businessman", which

was first broadcast at the end of March , is now also available in the

media library. The interest in the life of the millionaire entrepreneur seems unbroken even after his departure from Trigema. On YouTube alone, the portrait collected more than 500,000 views and hundreds of comments within just three days (as of April 2nd, 2:30 p.m.). SWR accompanied the entrepreneur for several months for the documentary.

In addition to insights into everyday life at the company after Grupp's departure, SWR

viewers also learn

some strange anecdotes about the entrepreneur from the past. As usual, the 81-year-old talks about his beginnings and times as a bachelor, when women apparently lined up for the Burladinger. An old acquaintance tells of parties “with very nice, young girls” that Grupp organized back then. “I don’t know where he picked them all up either. And of course he was adored by them too.”

Another strange incident that Grupp divulges completely unbiasedly: In 1987, he supported a CDU state parliament candidate from Burladingen in the election and persuaded 120 Trigema employees to join the CDU. As part of this, the Trigema boss treated his employees to dinner. However, he denies bribery allegations.

Since Grupp handed over his company to his children at the beginning of the year after 54 years as managing director, a lot of things have obviously been changing at Trigema. It is now up to the children to properly carry on their father's legacy and at the same time give the company their own signature. A headhunter revealed in an interview with
