Waischenfeld - A passerby discovered a lifeless man in a river in Upper Franconia. The dead man was a 60-year-old from the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia who was on vacation in Waischenfeld (Bayreuth district) with several people, the police headquarters said on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Holidaymaker from North Rhine-Westphalia dies in Bavaria: investigations are ongoing
A spokesman for the presidium stated that the man had fallen into the Wiesent River on Monday night under unclear circumstances. A passer-by spotted him near a weir in the morning. The exact circumstances were still unclear at this point. According to the investigators' current assessment, it is an accident and they are initially ruling out foul play. The criminal police have started investigating this case.
