Bremen/Cologne – A wide variety of things were on offer for TV viewers on Easter Monday (April 1st). The ARD showed a new “crime scene” from Bremen called “Fear in the Dark”. RTL, on the other hand, put on an Easter special of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” In it, Günther Jauch (67) provided his viewers with an extra joker. But who attracted the most viewers to the screen?

“Tatort” versus “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”: Can the RTL quiz show prevail against the cult crime thriller?

In “Crime Scene: Fear in the Dark,” Liv Moormann (Jasna Fritzi Bauer) and Linda Selb (Luise Wolfram) investigated after three friends tried to find their way out of a forest on their own. The next day, however, one of them was dead. However, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” was more cheerful. In the RTL quiz show, a candidate's knowledge of hits upset Günther Jauch. But how do the two formats fare in the ratings duel?

As can be seen from the DWDL numbers center, the victory in the quota duel clearly goes to the “crime scene”. The crime thriller received a rating of 23.0 percent from the overall audience with 6.52 million viewers. “Who will be a millionaire? The big Easter special, on the other hand, had 3.54 million viewers and a rating of 15.9 percent. This means that the cult quiz show is clearly at a disadvantage.

“Tatort” also wins with younger viewers. Among 14 to 49 year olds, 1.15 million people tuned in (rate: 19.4 percent). “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, on the other hand, has no chance here either. With 0.65 million viewers, RTL only has 13.7 percent of this target group.

Despite ratings victory: New Bremen “crime scene” weakened

Although “Tatort: Fear in the Dark” achieved solid ratings on Easter Monday, it was still the episode with the lowest reach since Christmas. The last Bremen “crime scene” was broadcast in April 2023. Back then, more than 8 million people tuned in - but this time only 6.52 million tuned in.

At RTL you should be satisfied with the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” ratings. The number of spectators here actually increased compared to the previous year. In addition to plenty of quiz questions, the candidates' stories also always amaze. One of the participants reported on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” that she had already been questioned by Interpol.
