The municipality of Langenpreising has honored committed citizens with badges of honor and those active in local politics with citizen medals.

Langenpreising – It was a dignified ceremony that took place in the hall of the Lintsche inn in Zustorf. Mayor Josef Straßer had reason to celebrate volunteer work: “Society thrives on people who do more than their duty.” It was about people like that. They received citizen medals and badges of honor. “You are people who get involved in the community,” praised Straßer. But he didn't skimp on criticism either: "Our society has become quite demanding and takes a lot of things for granted."

To receive the badge of honor, you must have served the community for 25 years. One person who has been caring since 1990 is Maria Steiger. In 1990 she was first elected to the Langenpreising parish council, she was its second chairwoman until 2006 and then chairwoman until 2018. She is involved in the Caritas in-house collection and is an editor. “No matter what happens, Maria helps everyone,” says Straßer.

Johann Faltermair is also involved in the church and has been on the Zustorf parish council since 1990. He was secretary for 16 years, and has been second chairman since 2006, also involved in the Caritas house collection, lecturer and altar boy. Margot Myrt has been a church caretaker for 28 years. Your honor must be made up for. She was currently doing this volunteer work.

Hans Gruber has been a member of the Langenpreising fire department since 1975. He served as an assessor on the board for 29 years and as an active firefighter for 43 years. He was the caretaker, the innkeeper in the parlor. “Hans never put himself in the foreground.” In 2021, Gruber became an honorary member of the fire department. Now the community's badge of honor was added.

The Citizens' Medal went to five people involved in local politics. Together they bring together 138 years of local council activity, 1,600 meetings and 6,000 hours, said Straßer.

Wolfgang Leitsch has been a member of the committee since 2002. Andreas Steiner – according to Straßer a saver – was involved from 1996 to 2020, serving as second mayor for one electoral term. When Bayern played, he was able to submit a request to end the meeting. Straßer: “The discussions were shorter then.” You could also have that with Maximilian Danner – whenever the question was “solid construction or timber construction”. Danner was also a member of the committee for 24 years (1996-2020) and, as a hunter, is a great nature connoisseur. Helmut Empl was on the local council for a full 30 years and was particularly in demand for energy issues. Here he was a “forward thinker,” says Straßer. Now the dentist is making music with the Strogentalers.

Former mayor Peter Deimel also joined the committee in 1990. From 2002 to 2008 he was deputy mayor, then mayor for two terms. “Yes, dear Peter, they weren’t all short sessions,” Straßer remembered. And now Deimel is the boss of the neighborhood help, and there is also the village shop, because: “You can’t do it without helping anyone.”

Christina Schindlbeck also received a gift. She was the mayor's right-hand woman for seven years and then moved to human resources.
