Red flood alert remains in force this Tuesday in Yonne and Saône-et-Loire, according to Météo France forecasts. These two departments of Burgundy are facing a sudden rise in water levels which, in places, reach exceptional levels, forcing the authorities to increase calls for caution.

As for the Côte d'Or, it has returned to orange vigilance for the same risks, like seven other departments: Aube, Nièvre, Indre-et-Loire, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Gironde and the Dordogne.
The Armaçon river, which crosses Yonne and Côte-d'Or, began to overflow on Monday, leading to evacuations, road cuts and raising fears of extensive material damage in the two departments.
At the same time, “a major flood” on the Arroux river, in Saône-et-Loire, pushed this department into the red on Monday evening.
In mid-March, eight people died in bad weather linked to storm Monica which hit the south-east of France.
