The aid organization "World Central Kitchen" (WCK), seven of whose employees were killed tonight in an attack in the Gaza Strip, was founded by the famous chef Jose Andres to distribute food in disaster and conflict areas.
With the continuation of the war in Gaza, and the difficulty of bringing in aid, the "Global Central Kitchen" became one of the most central organizations in supplying food to the Strip. He provided the hundreds of tons of food to the first aid ship that left Cyprus and arrived in the Gaza Strip, and it also donated tons of food to the second ship making its way from the island to the shores of Gaza.

The non-governmental organization, based in Washington, was founded by Andres and his wife Patricia in 2010 following the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Initially the organization focused on providing emergency food to survivors, and later it began providing training, meals and support to survivors of other natural disasters, as well as to refugees and those affected by armed conflicts.
In 2022, the organization provided tens of millions of food parcels in Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

The founder of the organization, the American-Spanish chef Andres, has a restaurant in Washington with two Michelin stars. In 2015, he received an honorary medal from the then President of the United States Barack Obama for his humanitarian work.
"The Israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing," Anders said following the incident last night, which the IDF said it was investigating thoroughly. He said he was heartbroken and mourned with the families and friends of the victims.
According to him, Israel "should stop limiting humanitarian aid, Stop killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. Enough for the loss of innocent lives. Peace begins with our shared humanity. He needs to start now."
