The head of a senior crime organization was arrested along with another prisoner and two relatives from Jaljulia on suspicion of committing a series of crimes in various prison facilities in Israel - the police announced today (Tuesday). Among the crimes attributed to the four - throwing grenades into the "Hadarim" prison and the "Abu Kabir" detention center, and blackmailing with threats an SBS officer who revealed mobile phones that were smuggled into the prison cell of one of the suspects. Meanwhile, a well-known lawyer from the center was detained on suspicion of involvement in crimes.
The investigation, conducted for the last few suspects, recently matured into the arrest of the four. One of them was arrested in a hotel in the center of the country with a loaded gun and two cartridges in his possession. Today, the police will decide whether to request the extension of their detention in court.

Yesterday, a smart watch and substances suspected to be illegal drugs were seized by Shavas officers in a cake that was hidden in the prison that was floating near Beit Shan. The staff members, who conducted an inspection to search for drugs that had been smuggled into the walls of the prison, found a box containing the cake, hidden in a freezer in one of the Mossad's wings. They mirrored the box and later, after their suspicions grew, they decided to dismantle the cake - where they found the smuggled items.
In February, the Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva extended the detention of an employee at Hadrim Prison on suspicion of smuggling cell phones and portable devices of the disk-on-key type to prisoners. The suspect, a resident of Karni Shumron, was employed as a quality manager in a prison employment center and allegedly used her position to smuggle phones over the past two years, including to prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment. During her investigation, the suspect admitted what was attributed to her. Defense: "She made a mistake, expressed sorrow and cooperated excellently."
