Telecom Italia hinders the introduction of Starlink's fast internet. This is the complaint, reports the Bloomberg agency, presented by Elon Musk's company to the communications authority and the industry ministry last week.

In the documentation filed, Starlink states that for months Telecom Italia did not comply with the regulations requiring the sharing of spectrum data to avoid frequency interference. A spokesperson for Tim rejects the "partial reconstruction of the facts" offered and specifies that there are "conversations still underway".

According to Starlink, the obstacles posed by Telecom Italia could have repercussions for the company's services in southern Europe and northern Africa. This is also why Musk's company asks the Ministry of Industry to do everything possible to ensure that Telecom Italia cooperates on frequencies. If the situation is not resolved, Starlink could be forced to move its investment from Italy and other European countries, Musk's giant says in documents filed and seen by Bloomberg.

Starlink offers broadband internet from a constellation of around 5,500 satellites and currently already has 2.6 million customers.

The company is one of the major contractors of the American government's space program and one of the protagonists in the national security sector. According to rumors, Starlink is in fact working on a network of hundreds of spy satellites for the United States as part of a $1.8 billion contract signed in 2021 with one of the American intelligence agencies.
