Weyarn's mayor Leonhard Wöhr is hoping for improvements to noise protection plans on the A8 - as a result of a recent on-site visit.

Weyarn

– The plans for the construction of noise protection measures along the motorway on Weyarner Flur may go back into the design process. Mayor Leonhard Wöhr (CSU) announced this at the most recent meeting of the local council. The reason would be positive, however, because improvements would then be made in the new plans for the benefit of residents who have not yet been taken into account - as a result of a recent on-site discussion.

After the interpretation process for the noise protection plans in autumn 2022, Wöhr attended a discussion with the government of Upper Bavaria in Munich in August of last year. Residents affected by the noise were also invited at the time and they had some suggestions for improvements (we reported) . They were then promised an on-site appointment, and this has now taken place.

The inspection with representatives of the government of Upper Bavaria, Autobahn GmbH as the developer and the municipality as well as property owners affected by the construction work and residents affected by the noise lasted a whole day, Wöhr now reported to the municipal council. He had been there himself and ventured a cautious assessment. “My feeling isn’t that bad,” he said. “I hope that one or two improvements will come.” Autobahn GmbH would have at least promised to examine some of the residents’ suggestions. Wöhr now hopes that these suggestions will be examined as quickly as possible and that improvements will also be incorporated into the plans. The plans would then have to be publicly displayed, which of course delays the process again. “But if that means an improvement,” emphasized Wöhr, “then it was still definitely worth it.” cmh
