A migrant was stabbed to death on Monday in Loon-Plage (North), a town near Dunkirk where a refugee camp is located, according to police sources cited by AFP.
The deceased man was aged 30 to 35 and was taken care of by firefighters late Monday afternoon, on a road near the Loon-Plage camp, which is regularly evacuated. Suffering several chest injuries, he died less than an hour later.
No witnesses came forward and the weapon was not found, adds this source, who specifies that no suspect has been identified.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Dunkirk judicial police. Contacted by AFP, the Dunkirk public prosecutor's office had not reacted mid-morning on Tuesday.
At the beginning of February, already near the Loon-Plage camp, a migrant was shot dead and a second injured.
