The approximately 90 visitors to the citizens' meeting in Obersöchering experienced an informative, calm citizens' meeting without any controversial topics. Mayor Reinald Huber led the event in a humorous manner. There were only critical words towards the district administration when it came to “asylum policy”.

Obersöchering

- In the days before a citizens' meeting it was "difficult" with him because he was "a bit nervous," explained deputy town hall boss Rudi Ottl with a smile to the visitors at the "Post" inn. This meant Reinald Huber. But there was no sign of nervousness in the mayor's appearance. Huber spoke confidently and with his well-known ironic and mischievous undertone about community events for almost two hours.

The mayor covered a wide range of topics in his annual report. From the water supply with a net price of 60 cents per cubic meter ("It's very cheap, you should know that"), to the local butcher's shop ("I'm happy when I know where the meat comes from") to the well-established one “Village shop” project in the town center: “It’s well received,” said Huber. The financing is via a loan that is part of the municipal funding program for the creation of rental housing in Bavaria. The interest rate is just 0.99 percent per year. “We generally follow the philosophy in the local council that we only build when we can afford it,” emphasized Huber.

“We’re all driving too fast”

The head of the town hall also discussed participation in the “Blaues-Land-Bus” project (“We are at the top of the world when it comes to public transport”), the “problem-free” running primary school, and the barrier-free expansion the Frauenkirche ("The old people want to go to the cemetery - so they don't want to stay there, they want to go up with the walker, but then back down again") and the building on Egenrieder-Weg, which was still empty after the VR-Bank-Werdenfels moved out, as " Long-running favorite”: “The new rental is still open. The application phase is ongoing. A tattoo artist would have gotten in touch.”

Huber called for more traffic discipline - especially in the curve area on the through-road in Untersöchering: "We're all driving too fast." He praised the "high level of commitment" of the fire department and also that of the farmers. After the storms last year, they made their “entire manpower” available for the clean-up work: “And I didn’t get any invoice. Work was done there – without any complaints.” Another topic at the citizens’ meeting was the open-air photovoltaic system in the former gravel pit. “We should be able to feed in in September,” said Huber about the schedule for the upcoming construction work. A second solar park is to be built on an approximately four hectare green area in Abertshausen under the leadership of Energie Südbayern (ESB). Citizens should also be able to participate in the agri-PV system: “We have to invest in our future,” said Huber when it comes to the “energy transition”.

Village heating: Project cannot be implemented as planned

However, the village heating project cannot be implemented as planned. Local councilor Josef Westenrieder reported to the meeting participants that no management staff could be found to found a cooperative: “That’s a bit sad. But if it doesn't work, then it just doesn't work.” If there will be village heating in Obersöchering, according to Westenrieder, it will only be under the direction of project developer Martin Echtler.

Wolfgang Taffertshofer also took the microphone. The deputy district administrator, who lives in the hamlet of Abertshausen, brought up the topic of “asylum”, among other things. In Obersöchering, said Taffertshofer, the district office will open an emergency shelter for 32 refugees in addition to the existing accommodation. “They are all people,” explained Huber. But the planning must be “hand and footed”: “The cooperation with the district office is not that good. We're not so happy about that." At the end of the citizens' meeting, Huber appealed to visitors to "have courage." He also offered to be available to you as a contact person - of course again with a mischievous addition: "If you have something, come to me - but please not too often."

Flowers for four women

There were no honors at the citizens' meeting in Obersöchering this year, but bouquets of flowers were still distributed - to four women. Primary school principal Pamela Führmann, kindergarten director Stephanie Ammersinn-Staltmair, Astrid Rehmet (office manager of the Habach administrative community) and community secretary Gabi Linner were explicitly praised by Mayor Huber for their work and commitment. “Women are slowly understanding me,” explained the head of the town hall with a smile - and especially to the headmistress: “I will try to be nicer.” For Linner (“She always has to put up with me”), Rehmet (“It’s a very good collaboration with the VG"), there were warm words from Huber as well as for Ammersinn-Staltmair and her colleagues: The mayor thanked the teachers in the village kindergarten for the "loving work".
