Her duet “It's nice to be in the world” with Roy Black is unforgettable. What does Anita Hegerland actually do? She recently spoke out.
Oslo - You probably won't get rid of the following catchy tune so quickly: "It's nice to be in the world / Says the bee to the porcupine / You and me, we join in / It's nice to be in the world," sang once the great Roy Black and a ten-year-old girl at his side. Her name: Anita Hegerland. The song stayed in Germany's top ten for months and even took first place in Denmark. Roy Black died far too early in October 1991, and since then there has been constant speculation about the mysterious circumstances of his death.

What is his duet partner from back then actually doing? The Norwegian Anita Hegerland is now 63 years old. She is still a successful solo artist in her homeland and beyond and performs regularly. Same now. At Easter she took stock of the situation with an Instagram post. “After several months full of concerts and many trips on two European tours, it will be nice to have a quiet Easter at home.” She misses her dear mother, says Hegerland, who had to say a sad goodbye five weeks earlier, “but I know that she would have been excited about all the great musical experiences I've had recently."
For Easter she had planned to relax and go for walks. She wants to charge the batteries for everything that comes next. And also finish three paintings for upcoming exhibitions. She illustrates her statement with pictures from Madrid (you can see more by swiping/clicking on the arrows) that were taken after her concert there, as well as from the return flight. Did fellow travelers recognize the former child star, who is still very successful, on the plane?

In the posting, Hegerland also calculates that she can look back on a 56-year music career. Hegerland was already a child star in Norway at the end of the 1960s. She was discovered in December 1968 at a children's Christmas party in her hometown. When she was brought to Germany, she didn't speak any German. “The text was written down to me in spoken language,” she recalled in an interview with the

a few years ago . But later she learned German. She also appeared in films in the 70s, including “When My Darling Hits the Drum” and “Old Boat and Young Love” alongside Roy Black and “Rudi Bebehave Dich” with Rudi Carrell.

Her music career began early and continued internationally as an adult. For example, she sang the global hits “Pictures in the Dark” and “Innocent” by the British musician Mike Oldfield. She spent six years in England, France and Switzerland while in a relationship with Oldfield. She has three adult children (two of them with Oldfield).

Anita said in 2021: “I still miss Roy Black”
The grief over Roy Black's early death never left her. On the 50th anniversary of their joint hit in 2021, she said: “I still miss Roy. We had a wonderful, successful time together on stage for many years." For the 40th anniversary of "It's nice to be in the world" in 2011, Hegerland recorded a heavy metal version of the song with Chris Boltendahl and the musicians from the band Grave Digger song on. She did that with a smile because Roy Black always wanted to make rock music. Hegerland was also recently transported back in time: her tour was themed “Tribute To Mike Oldfield”. Roy Black's son recently caused astonishment with a strange business idea.
