The Easter special of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” brought with it a lot of tension – and a scolding presenter: a sound breakdown caused Günther Jauch to despair.

Cologne – The RTL program on Sunday (March 31st) was also all about Easter: “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” was a three-hour special edition that was supposed to bring one or two (planned) surprises with it. The moment when Günther Jauch's (67) technology went on strike was probably not planned.

The corresponding breakdown occurred around two and a half hours after the start of the show: “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” candidate Vera Hertler had just consulted the audience joker on the 16,000 euro question. The teacher from Stuttgart caused a few laughs with his open, talkative manner when he openly offered Günther Jauch to take over his moderation. However, the otherwise quick-witted RTL favorite remained silent - even if unintentionally.

“We have to interrupt, Mr. Jauch. “Your microphone has failed,” the director reported. A few seconds later, Günther Jauch was handed a makeshift handheld microphone. “Everything has conspired against me,” complained the RTL presenter and then took up the audience joker’s offer: “And the man is moderating the hell out of me here.”

So Günther Jauch continued with a replacement microphone. But that too gave up after just two minutes: “It’s funny, but her handheld microphone just broke down. “We’ll be back immediately with a new handheld microphone,” came the control panel again. At this point, things got too colorful for the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” veteran: “They don’t want me here anymore!” complained the 67-year-old about the renewed loss of sound.

In the end everything went well: the presenter was rewired, which he commented humorously (“What does that have to do with my butt?”) and Vera Hertler earned at least 32,000 euros. Another scene also caused a stir: in the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Easter special, Jauch himself became a candidate.
