Returning to his villa in a residential suburb of Reykjavík for dinner, entrepreneur Flosi finds a dish of Hornafjördur langoustines turning black on the kitchen counter and a loaf of Icelandic lichen burning in the the oven.

Through his accountant, the fifty-year-old contacts Aurora, a specialist in sensitive financial investigations, who in turn asks a police officer friend to discreetly support him.
