The
Argentine Political Club
, the
think tank
formed by leaders and different actors from civil society, spoke about the designation by the National Government of
Ariel Lijo and Manuel García-Masilla
as candidates to fill the two vacancies on the
Supreme Court.
Without posing an explicit rejection,
The organization requested that
they be “impeccable” candidates and that women
from the legal world be included.
Through a statement, the entity urged that "candidates be presented who offer, before society,
clear guarantees of legal capacity and moral exemplarity
to join the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation."
They considered that a renewal of members of the highest court should “increase trust and social appreciation of Justice.”
In addition, they pointed out that whoever joins must resolve “the most relevant national legal conflicts, for decades.” Therefore, they considered,
“it must be blameless.”
On the other hand, they raised their demand that there be women among the applicants proposed by Javier Milei's government.
“Citizenship and the law also require that
the Court be enriched with distinguished legal women.”
They maintained on this point that there are "plenty of candidates with unquestionable careers, recognized forgers of law, in their professorships, writings or sentences, who will bring prestige to the Court, as did their three predecessors."
