Originally from Saint-Parres-aux-Tertres (Aube), Johnny Humberset, aka Johndo, creates video games on the good old Game Boy! In self-publishing, he develops each project from A to Z: music, graphics, story... Nothing escapes him! Basically, the thirty-year-old developed fun applications for smartphones then he decided to dust off his old console by inventing new 2D games. “I embarked on this adventure in 2022,” recalls the developer who now lives in Côte d’Or.
Through its first project, titled "Dijon Game Boy", players could visit the mustard capital using a Nintendo console. “Thanks to this project, Dijon became the first city in the world that can be visited on Game Boy,” Johndo proudly states. Thanks to his original ideas, the Dijonnais is creating a buzz! He notably invented “Mustard Man” (also available on smartphones). In this Pac-Man spin-off game, a mustard pot must face nasty ketchup bottles in a maze. His work can be discovered on www.bourgognegameboy.fr

The developer also works in Dijon schools to organize workshops. To capture the children's attention, he presents them with one of his games which allows them to discover the eight libraries of the City of Dukes "in the style of Pokémon or Zelda". The goal is to “solve the mystery of the heritage library”, explains this retrogaming enthusiast who took around six months to develop this project.
“I would be happy to develop a game around Dawn,” says Jonhdo. Present at the end of March at the Expo Toys of Our Childhood show in Saint-Parres-aux-Tertres, he was able to return to his homeland. “I would like to organize workshops with the children during which we could visit different places in the city of Troyes to create Game Boy games,” he imagines. Following on from Moutarde-Man, will we soon discover a game based around Troyes andouillette? “We can also consider playing with champagne or hosiery, the Game Boy rendering could be very nice,” laughs the 33-year-old young man.
“Dawn is a source of inspiration for video game developers,” he assures. There is heritage, culture and even sport with ESTAC for football or SUMA, for motoball,” he adds more seriously, launching a message in the direction of Troyes La Champagne Tourisme. “It could be great to develop a project around video games involving everyone! », he enthuses.
If large video game creators print their boxes or instructions abroad for financial reasons, Johndo prefers to collaborate with local companies. “When I developed my games in the city of Dijon, I worked with graphic designers from the city and a video game association called
