We were going “to the hen” (filing a complaint) until 2022. The former Maleyssie police hotel in Chartres (Eure-et-Loir) will be transformed into a brasserie, bar, guest apartments and private lounges. Stéphane Wenz Charrier and his husband Mickaël Charrier, restaurateurs, fell in love with the building in 2019. “It is the private mansion of Marquis Maleyssie, which was transformed in the 1980s into a municipal police station . Its location, close to the theater and rue Chansy, ended up convincing us,” says the owner of the Moulin de Ponceau.

On “the boulevard of Culture”

It is the company Franklin Location, managed by the couple Fabrice and Maguelonne Walewski, both already owners of a historic residence on the outskirts of Maintenon (Eure-et-Loir), which acquired this magnificent Napoleon III style building. Stéphane Wenz Charrier and his husband will manage this new living space on Boulevard Chasles in Chartres. Four million euros are invested to revive this 1000m² building. Work is underway. All of the old partitions and false ceilings were demolished to make way for new, more airy and welcoming spaces. “We are returning to the original walls,” notes Stéphane Wenz Charrier.

The outbuildings will be enlarged by a glass roof overlooking the interior courtyard which will accommodate “a 100-seat brasserie”. Still on the ground floor, “two private lounges and a large bar”, explains the future manager. On the upper floors, “eight luxury guest apartments will be open for seasonal rental”. “There was a lack of supply along Boulevard Chasles. Theater or cinema spectators did not necessarily know where to go after the performances. This is the Boulevard of Culture! », assures Stéphane Wenz Charrier.

The opening has been set for December 15, 2024. Recruitment has not yet started. A dedicated day will be organized in September. Around twenty jobs will be filled.
