The situation is still critical in Yonne, a department placed on red flood alert by
Météo France
this Wednesday April 3. The Armançon, a river which crosses the Côte-d'Or and the Yonne, is particularly monitored between the municipalities of Brienon-sur-Armançon and Montbard, details the Vigicrues website.
“The heavy precipitation upstream of the Armançon and Brenne basins observed all day Sunday and reinforced by those of Monday morning led to new very significant increases in the Armançon upstream
,” explains Vigicrues in its latest bulletin.
Three other departments are placed on orange alert. These are Aube, Haute-Marne, and Côte-d’Or.
Precipitation likely to “slow down the decline”
The flood wave, which arrived yesterday in Burgundy, is reinforced by the rain which will fall this Wednesday morning on the eastern flank of the country.
“They are more significant from Hauts de France to the Grand-Est up to Burgundy-Franche-Comté
,” specifies
Météo France
.
These precipitations
“expected but uncertain on Wednesday are likely to slow down the decline or even cause further increases”
, concludes Vigicrues.
