Instead of providing legal help, several lawyers are said to have defrauded investors whose investments were in trouble.
Mühlhausen/Jena - Because they are said to have lured clients using dubious methods, several lawyers will soon have to answer before the Mühlhausen regional court. The public prosecutor's office accuses them, among other things, of fraud, as the regional court announced.
According to a court spokesman, the five defendants are said to have taken part in a special system in their professional positions: damaged investors were persuaded, for example, to grant fee-based mandates to a law firm using false representations. In addition, the injured parties are said to have been brought under false representations to initiate conciliation proceedings and administrative proceedings. At least three of the defendants are said to have worked for a law firm in Jena. The court did not provide any further details.
The trial is scheduled to begin on April 9th, and around 20 hearing dates are planned until the beginning of July. dpa
