It is a self-service food store, with plastic shopping bags, a refrigerated section for fresh products, one for fruits and vegetables, another for groceries and hygiene products. Without forgetting the one whose curtain rises once a month and who offers clothes. But its prices defy all competition: 40 cents per liter of milk, 60 cents per 250 g lump of butter, 70 cents per kilo of fruit and vegetables whatever they may be. Located rue du Parc, in the Plateau de Corbeil district, it has just tripled its sales area, from 30 m2 to 100 m2 by investing in the old reserve, the latter being transferred to a modular extension installed in the courtyard. An expansion that meets a need. “Our beneficiaries are all Melunais. We helped 353 families in 2023, or 926 people, a number which increased by 15% in one year,” explains Maurice Bénitah, one of the 77 volunteers.
