The Ile-de-France transport network is not yet quite in “Olympic” shape. But the punctuality bulletin published this Wednesday by Île-de-France Mobilités shows clear progress in February. After a particularly mediocre autumn on half of the metro lines, several axes confirm their recovery trend. The RER axes also garner a few more regularity points. This bodes well for daily transport users, and the 10 million visitors expected this summer for the Paris Olympics.
“In addition to the three automatic lines (1, 4 and 14) and line 5 which are or exceed 100% regularity, lines 2, 9, 10 and 11 are close to 100% (97%, 99%, 99% , 95% respectively) and above the objectives set by the contract between Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP,” welcomes IDFM. Even line 7, in bad shape in 2023, regains its performance with 93% regularity.
At the back of the pack, several fragile lines confirm their progress from January. Line 6 is at 91% in February (+5 points compared to January). Line 12 reached 90% (+ 3 points), while line 13 showed an improvement of 6 points, with 90% of trains on schedule.
Lines 3 and 8 still lagging behind
Two lines are still struggling to get close to 90%, the minimum required on the underground network. 3 reached 86% in February (+ 2 points compared to January) and 8 peaked at 84% (+ 2% points).
“The action plan for line 8 announced last February is starting to show its first effects with a 2% increase, due in particular to the five immediate measures to improve the performance of line 8, including the recruitment of additional drivers or even the strengthening of maintenance with extended periods, to ensure better maintenance of rolling stock, estimates IDFM. Line 3, whose main difficulty comes from the driver shortage and absenteeism, is also improving. »
A good trend on RER A, B and D
Although “major” disruptions are still frequent, the RER network is also seeing an improvement. The RER A is at 94.6% in February. “Regarding the RER B, the situation remains stable compared to last month, with a punctuality figure of 86.3%. Île-de-France Mobilités is awaiting the result of the action plan put in place by the operators following Yves Ramette's audit. »
The situation on the RER D “is improving overall on all of its axes (+ 5% compared to January), even if it remains below the objectives set by Île-de-France Mobilités”. The RER E is not at its best, with punctuality of only 90.7%.
As for the RER C, which fell to its lowest point in January, with only 80.9% of trains planned, its axes are up slightly (84%). But certain branches, in the south, continue to suffer from mediocre regularity, close to 75% (Dourdan branch).
Still too many train cancellations on the Transilien network
IDFM “asks operators to sustainably pursue their efforts to achieve the commitments made and meet the expectations of Ile-de-France residents”. Île-de-France Mobilités is paying particular attention to line P, whose punctuality is 89.7% in February, and which is encountering difficulties in terms of infrastructure reliability, in particular impacts linked to SNCF renovation work.
