After the partial legalization of cannabis, the first cannabis club members in Aschheim stocked up on hemp seeds and plants.

Aschheim

- Since Tuesday, April 2nd, cannabis lovers in Aschheim can buy seven hemp seeds or five cuttings per month in the Wenzel Cerveny store. Normally the “Nature Experience World”, where a “chillout club” for the cultivation and consumption of cannabis is to be created, is closed on Tuesdays. But not this Tuesday. “I wrote to all members and pre-registered people to let them know that we are open today,” says Cerveny. At eleven o'clock the Bayerischer Rundfunk and RTL were at the door. “The customers turned around again when they saw the press cars. Not everyone wants the boss to notice.” The members would probably stop by again in the afternoon. His phone doesn't stand still for five minutes. Everyone wants to know whether there are enough plants.

“Senseless delay”: Cannabis purchase only from July 1st

Partial legalization began in Germany on April 1st. Adults are now allowed to smoke weed in public in certain places, and carrying up to 25 grams of cannabis is legal. Each adult is also allowed to grow three plants. The seeds and cuttings are available in cannabis shops like Wenzel Cerveny's. However, it takes some time until the plants are ready to harvest.

Club members will only be able to legally purchase cannabis from July 1st. There are 90 days in between. “This is a pointless delay,” says Wenzel Cerveny. A government stalling tactic that promotes the black market. Because where should consumers buy cannabis other than from the dealer around the corner?

For 150 euros you get 50 grams of cannabis

Wenzel Cerveny's club currently has 100 active members and 650 pre-registrations. Up to 500 members are possible. From July, club members will be able to get 50 grams of cannabis for a monthly fee of 150 euros. That's three euros per gram. Cerveny has to submit the application for the club by then.

Local council continues to defend itself against cannabis club

To do this he needs the approval of the Aschheim local council. And that could be difficult. Because he vehemently defends himself against the “Cillout Club” and the nickname “Haschheim”, which mockers invented. Within two weeks, the council approved a playground in the neighborhood. If that is the case, Cerveny is not allowed to operate his cannabis club there. “It was the fastest approved playground in all of Germany,” says Cerveny. “If the local council rejects our association, we will take it to court,” he announced. It cannot be the case that from now on all municipalities put a playground wherever a cannabis club is to be built.

Cannabis shop boss: People should be more afraid of alcohol

Cerveny asserts that the idea that stoners are junkies is based on prejudice. People should be more afraid of alcohol than cannabis. Society trivializes the wrong drug. In the next few months he wants to continue to do “educational work,” as he sees it. Nine local councilors have already accepted his invitation and visited his café. Citizens could take courses to find out what needs to be taken into account when growing grass at home. In the afternoon, another delivery of cuttings arrives on Saturnstrasse. Cerveny is still waiting for a supply of hemp seeds. The demand is so great that there are delivery problems everywhere. “We are all surprised at how quickly legalization has happened.” The supply of fertilizers, growing tents and soil is filled to the brim.
