The fourth day of the protest against the government in Jerusalem and the police are being held today (Wednesday) with increased forces around the Knesset building. As part of the preparations, traffic routes in the Kiryat Hamlet area will be blocked, including Kaplan Street and other streets according to the situation assessment.

In the background of last night's stormy protests near the Prime Minister's house on Gaza Street, the police come back and remind that "there is an absolute prohibition to hold protests in the territory of the Knesset's immunity or to carry out acts that will disrupt the normal activity of the Mishkan. A protest will be possible in the designated demonstration complex that was allocated for this purpose and where many protests have taken place in the past."

The police also informed that it is forbidden to light fires and bonfires without permission in the public space and on the roads. This wrongful act constitutes a criminal offense and that it will not be possible to block main roads that were not coordinated with the police and any attempt to seriously damage the routine of life in Jerusalem and the freedom of movement of thousands of drivers. The demonstration and the procession will be allowed in the designated places only.

In the meantime, the National Security Committee is expected to hold a discussion this morning on the third reading of the proposed Criminal Procedure Law regarding enforcement powers - arrests, which will grant dramatic powers to a police officer in the face of suspects arrested and released under restrictive conditions from the police station. Among other things, the law will include the prohibition of entry into a pre-fenced area or place that until now allowed suspects to be kept away for up to a period of 15 days will be extended to a period of up to 90 days, according to the decision of a police officer.

In view of the increase in crime in Israel in recent years, and in particular in acts of violence, the Israel Police need additional tools to effectively deal with this phenomenon. The position of the Israel Police is that extending the time periods of the restrictions imposed on a suspect as part of the conditions of release on bail will contribute to its ability to conduct investigations, ease the burden on the detention centers and improve its ability to supervise those released during interrogation without them disrupting investigative procedures or committing additional offenses.

Yesterday evening, many protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's house calling for an election date. Severe clashes broke out between the protesters and the police forces, Zeret after the protesters left the Knesset area to the President's house and from there to the Prime Minister's house. Some of the protesters were detained for questioning.

Later in the evening, the police began to evacuate the protesters using a Makhtazit. At one point, one of the protestors lay down under the Makhtazit and made it difficult for her to move forward for about half an hour. Only when the police opened the access to the road, the protester chose to release his grip on the Makhtazait.
