A worker in his sixties died on a private construction site in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), Wednesday afternoon, in circumstances that are tragic to say the least but which remain to be clarified. The victim was found buried
“under a pile of earth”
, indicated the Maralpin firefighters. A sudden landslide on the construction site of a private house, in the La Bocca district, could be the cause of this fatal accident.
The sixty-year-old, taken out of the pile of earth, was in cardiorespiratory arrest and could not be resuscitated despite rapid emergency intervention. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Cannes police.
On March 19, another worker lost his life on the construction site of a building near Nice. There too, the circumstances had been dramatic since the man had been hit by a gas cylinder that had fallen from the seventh floor. In 2023, out of nearly 640,000 work accidents in France, 696 were fatal, according to Health Insurance figures relayed by the Ministry of Labor.
