If the members of the college decided to choose a constitutionalist, the professor would be in competition with the candidacy of Laurent Fabius. President of the Circle of Constitutionalists, the new candidate claims proximity to at least three well-known academicians: he belongs to the school of Dean Georges Vedel and was close to both Maurice Druon and René Rémond.
Among the other candidates announced for seat number 16, the names of Yves-Denis Delaporte, Éric Dubois, Eduardo Pisani, Olivier Mathieu, Nicolas Grenier, Isabelle Autissier, Jean-Yves Gerlat and Robin Allain are mentioned. The deadline for applications is April 14.
