The Israeli army announced on Thursday its decision to temporarily suspend the leave
of "combatant units"
, in a context of war in the Gaza Strip and renewed tension with Iran.
“It has been decided to temporarily delay permissions granted to combat units
,” the army announced, noting that Israeli forces
“are at war and the question of the deployment of soldiers is constantly reviewed according to needs
. ”
The army also said it was calling for additional reservists for its air, intelligence and civil defense units.
This announcement comes as on Monday the consular annex of the Iranian embassy in Damascus was destroyed by strikes attributed to Israel, which left 16 dead. Iran has promised a response and accused Israel, which has not confirmed its responsibility. On the northern front (Lebanon, Syria), exchanges of fire have increased with missile and artillery fire since the start of the war in Gaza triggered by the unprecedented attack carried out on October 7 in Israel by the Palestinian Hamas. Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah, an ally of the Palestinian Islamist movement, engage in daily exchanges of fire along the Israeli-Lebanese border.
